It was a Date.

I've already told you previously, I love the French. Here is yet another reason: shot in 1976 using a single take, C'etait un rendez-vous is a short film documenting a bumper-eyed view of a high speed drive through the streets of early morning Paris. It's shot in real-time, in real traffic, using a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL with blatant disregard of all traffic laws. The high revved engine notes + the heel-toe downshifts + bombing towards Arc de Triomphe and racing along Avenue des Champs-Elysees = absolute ace. And the clincher? The final shot, at the steps of Sacre Coeur Basilica, with the cityscape as the backdrop. Of course it's about a girl...

It's always about a girl.
